The most famous Western Ghats also known as Sahyadri (Benevolent Mountains) is a mountain range that runs parallel to the western coast of the Indian peninsula, located entirely in India. It runs along the coast of South Gujarat, Maharashtra and Goa. The Deccan plains of the Vidarbha, Marathwada in central and eastern Maharashtra define the rest of the region. The vegetation varies from tropical rainforests along the Konkan coast to thorny bushes and shrubs in northern Gujarat.

Tourist Destinations

The ancient Ajanta Caves situated in Maharashtra are full of monuments that are tagged as UNESCO world heritage site. The paintings, sculptures, architecture here are from old age period and speaks for its ancient time.

Ellora caves the tourist attraction spot that is in Maharashtra has one of the largest rock cut monastery temple cave complexes in the world. It is also named as one of the most visited place for Hindu pilgrims.

Aravalli range is spread over the states of Gujarat and Rajasthan. The range extends almost 700 kms. The bigger trees and the fort here are main sight views for the wanderers.

Lonavala, part of Maharashtra, has places like Kune falls, Della adventure park and Bushi dam. Bike riders love the roads here for the climate and for being adventurous.

Gir National Park belongs to Gujarat state. Gir plays an important role in protecting lions and an all important wild life sanctuary in the country. Kamaleshwar dam near by the park also drags visitors.

The Somnath temple located in Prabhas Patan near Veraval in Saurashtra on the western coast of Gujarat, is believed to be the first among the twelve Jyotirlinga shrines of Shiva. It is an important pilgrimage and tourist spot of Gujarat. The winter season pulls tourists as it is considered as best season to go to the temple.

Panchgani is situated in Maharashtra known for Table land, volcanic plateau. Also it has Parsi point , Sydney point, Amusement park for Bungee jump which attracts more tourists.

Dwaraka from Gujarat is most popular for its sacred temple. Considered to be the kingdom of Lord Krishna, the city has some parts still underwater. Said to be built 2500 years back, Dwaraka is a sacred place for Hindus.

Kanha National park located in Madhya Pradesh has numerous wild lives and one of the most important national parks in India. Also, it is a home for large number of Bengal tigers and attracts animal lovers and many tourists.
